With the commissioning of four more biogas plants at the end of last year, the agri.capital group continues to grow. This Münster-based business is already one of the leading energy producers using biogas today. Environmentally-friendly energy is being produced from renewable raw materials in 49 locations. In the current year the supply output is set to increase considerably. In order to achieve this objective, agri.capital is investing in the expansion of its own project development activities and in more acquisitions of existing biogas plants. In the past year the agri.capital group has acquired additional capital to finance its growth.
The business has also received a significant boost in terms of personnel. In addition to an experienced team of project developers, at the beginning of March Otto Eichhorn, a former member of the board of Schmack Biogas AG, switched to agri.capital. Eichhorn, who brings with him many years of experience in building up national and international markets in addition to his know-how in systems construction and in the biogas industry, will be in charge of the acquisitions and project development wings of agri.capital. Eichhorn explains: “With strategic cooperation initiatives, chiefly with systems constructors and municipal departments of works, we intend to position ourselves not only as cash-rich investors but also as competent partners on the production side."
With these new objectives agri.capital plans to establish itself as an independent producer of renewable energies in the traditional energy industry. “By strengthening our hand in the fields of project development and acquisitions we shall be in a position to implement our growth strategy quickly“, emphasises Dr. Anton Daubner, CEO of the agri.capital group. “In addition to this, the reinforcement of our team with Mr. Eichhorn will allow us to advance more quickly with further technological developments and boost the efficiency of our systems“, continues Dr. Daubner.
Germany will continue to be the core market for the business. “With the wind behind us, thanks to the government’s targets for climate and energy policies, developments on the German biogas market will continue their positive trend over the next few years", according to Dr. Daubner. agri.capital also intends to expand abroad and become one of Europe’s leading players on the biogas market. “The ongoing selective internationalisation of agri.capital will offer additional opportunities for growth on the interesting biogas markets“, confirms Eichhorn. With the foundation of an Italian subsidiary last year, the first projects are now ready to be implemented in Italy in 2010.
