Seatwave scooped the awards for being the fastest growing company AND for having the business with the best management team in this year’s Media Momentum awards. Joe Cohen, the CEO, is a fantastic guy with a great team. A deserved winner. The judge’s panel included Martha Lane-Fox, now non-executive director at Marks & Spencer, Brian Harrison, Digital Director of the Telegraph and Mike Reid, Managing Partner of Frog Capital. Other successful businesses included Isango, Leadpoint, Flirtomatic, and Moneybookers.
Key themes:
- Moneybookers is growing fast, and looks like becoming a major European based competitor to PayPal
- The Digital Media agency companies continue to progress well, but only a few will make it to becoming a £100m plus business
- Whilst the ‘end of line’ online retailers continue to grow, there will be fall out so only the best will survive in each territory. BuyVIP have our vote. Great team.
- Good to see a pure-play mobile application company making meaningful revenues. Flirtomatic have recently launched in the US. We love the service and think highly of Mark and his team. Good luck to them.
